Scottish Mountain Rescue Conference 2019 at Glenmore Lodge
Outwear was invited to attend the Scottish Mountain Rescue Conference this year to showcase the Woolpower merino range which has started to be tested by a number of the teams.
Glenmore Lodge, the headquarters of Scottish Mountain Rescue, was the location for the event. The picturesque setting on the outskirts of Aviemore, in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, was the ideal place for the volunteers participating to undertake some training and activities as part of the conference. It was a full agenda, with plenty of training programmes, activities, break-out sessions and dinner for all to enjoy.
The 2 day conference gave Outwear the opportunity to speak with members from some of the 24 volunteer Mountain Rescue Teams from around Scotland. This was a great chance to get feedback from those already using Woolpower, as well as to discuss the benefits of merino and in particular, Woolpower. The knowledge and experience within the Scottish Mountain Rescue Teams is great to learn from and really benefitted us in confirming how suitable the Woolpower range is for their challenging job roles.
A scheduled visit from one of the H M Coastguard helicopters, G-MCGP, and crew was a highlight, and provided the perfect moment for a group photo to celebrate the weekend.
We hope to be invited back next year and continue our support of the Scottish Mountain Rescue teams. We have a tremendous amount of respect for the volunteers giving up their time to help others, regardless of the conditions and location.
Please support your local Scottish Mountain Rescue Team and remember that there are over 850 volunteers throughout Scotland giving up their precious time to provide this fantastic life saving service. Mountain Rescue England and Wales is the equivalent organisation south of the border and is made up of 49 volunteer teams.
